For dog training mealtime is the perfect time

August 10, 2013 By

Many negative behaviors and habits can be removed from a dog. What is more, all of the positive traits associated with dogs like obedience, faithfulness, and respect, can be included with the correct training regimen. You will not find a better pet than a canine, but proper training is a must.

You need to reward your dog to be successful. Unless you offer treats appropriately and frequently, it’s almost impossible to keep him motivated and interested. Dogs can get confused if they are rewarded at inappropriate times.

It is dangerous to put more than one dog together in a close space. The two chains could get tangled up. This could panic you dogs as he tries to get free and he could potentially hurt himself. For example, a large dog could tangle the chain with a smaller dog, wrapping the chain around the neck of the small dog, causing it to die.

As you begin training your dog, create a verbal cue that allows your pet to understand the exact moment that they correctly complete your command. One good word can act as an appreciated segue from the good behavior to the ultimate reward.

Use your dog’s name often to ensure you have its attention. Call your dog by name as much as possible when you are first getting to know your pup; this will establish a connection between hearing the name and giving positive attention to the speaker. The best dog names are ones that are short and are different from other commands.

When housebreaking your puppy, accidents will happen. Always clean up accidents right away to help with the training process and keeping the area sanitary. When a dog uses the house to relive itself, the smell can linger on the carpet if not cleaned properly. You will then have a dog that will continue to use that same spot all of the time. There are a variety of products that will help you remove the odor; check with the local pet store or department store.

The best way to train your dog is to use different tones of voices. A command should have a different tone than praise so that your dog can better understand how his behavior causes your reaction. The best advice is to use a firm voice for commands, a louder voice when correcting your dog and a higher voice when praising your dog.

Pay attention to other dogs while walking your canine companion. There are aggressive dogs, and not every owner is at fault. If you are aware of an antisocial or aggressive dog, steer your dog away.

While training your dog, you need to introduce it to different social situations as early as possible. Dogs must learn how to behave around both humans and other dogs. Doing this will also decrease the likelihood that the dog will respond poorly when introduced to new environments.

A good training tip is to be aware of the special grooming needs of your dog’s breed. While some dogs just need a few baths a year, other breeds have to be clipped and cleaned more frequently. A happy dog is a clean dog, so to train him, he must be groomed.

When it comes to training your dog, never give up. Through constant and positive reinforcement, you will be able to train your dog to retain the behaviors you teach them. Training never ends. It is an important part of taking care of your dog.

Dog Training

By now, every dog owner should be aware of how easy dog training can really be. With solid information and a good mindset on the part of the owner, dog training can happen. Any dog can take on the challenge of learning the things that their owner is trying to teach them and thrive.

How to get the kids involved in training the new dog

August 10, 2013 By

Have you thought about getting a dog, but have no idea how to train it? Does your dog exhibit certain behaviors you do not like? You have come to the right place! Keep reading to learn how to really create a best friend.

Make sure that you use control to reward your dog’s good training behavior. When your dog obeys your command, try to keep them calm as you give them their reward. Don’t get too excited, though, as your excitement may cause them to break their concentration. If you are able to maintain your calm, you can expect your dog to maintain calm too.

Keep your dog on a healthy diet. If your dog isn’t getting what he needs from his diet, he will have a hard time concentrating during training. It not only makes your dog unhealthy but can make him misbehave as well. Improving your dog’s diet can make training him easier.

When tying up your dog, make sure it is not close to another chained dog. The dogs chains could get tangled up and cause harm to the dogs as they struggle to get free. If a big dog is tangled up with a little one, they may get so wrapped up that air passages are blocked off, and one could potentially die.

Start prepping your puppy for training by rewarding his good choices. It is far simpler to teach a dog to do something the right way than to break bad habits. Never feed your dog from the table, if you don’t want him to get the habit of begging for scraps.

Accidents will happen sometimes when you house train your pet. Make sure to clean up accidents as soon as they happen. If the mess stays on the area for too long, it can leave a scent behind that your animal may return to in the future to do his business. A pet shop in your area will carry products specifically for this problem.

Using a loose leash is key when you are training your dog to accept a leash. Dogs want to see what’s going on around them at all times. This eagerness can cause them to pull against the leash if it’s held too tightly. Teach your dog to relax and let them get used to walking along on a slack leash.

Training Session

You should keep all of the training session pretty short. The perfect time is about 15 minutes. More than this ends in frustration. After each training session spend some time playing with your dog and lavish him with praise.

Does your dog consume a healthy diet? A bad diet can really change the behavior of even the best dogs. Change your dog’s food to something healthier, and they will have mid-level energy all day. Ask for your vet’s advice in regards to proper dog nutrition.

Your dog should enjoy being trained by you. Keep training sessions to more than 10 to 15 minutes to stay within your dogs’ attention span. Give your dog rewards that vary and come often. Make sure to praise your dog when he does something right. This will make training and listening pleasurable for your dog.

Dogs have natural destructive behavior, so provide outlets for them to exercise their natural behaviors. A good diet and plenty of exercise are crucial to keeping any dog healthy and happy.

Do you think there is any need to wait once you see how easy the training is? Implement these suggestions now to train your dog to be obedient. Dogs like to follow your orders when you tell them what to do. They simply require a firm hand for guidance. Start training your dog today!

Is crate training really the best way to train a puppy?

August 10, 2013 By

You may want an indoor dog, but he is making it almost impossible. From shredded upholstery to soiled floors and chewed-up shoes, it’s evident that your dog must be trained. The following article contains some tips you can use to help make your dog well-behaved.

Your dog should know when calm time is to be had. Playtime with them is great, however, they must learn to be calm when you’re entering a room. Don’t acknowledge dogs the moment that you set foot in the house.

Training your dog to start rolling over is easy, but be sure to have some treats. Begin by getting the dog to lay down. Afterward, bring the treat above the dogs head and follow over to their other side. He should roll his body over while following the treat. Each time he sways to one side, tell him to “roll over”. Keep doing this until the treat is no longer needed. Be persistent and do not give up; it might take a while but will be worth it once they learn it.

Give your dog more freedom as he or she gets further along in the training program. It is important that you reach a balance between freedom and obedience in order to establish a satisfying relationship. However, don’t allow your dog to have too much freedom because this could negatively impact your training.

If your pet is prone to jumping onto your lap, you should gently squeeze his paws after he does so. This communicates that the behavior is unacceptable and should be avoided. You will not be hurting them if you squeeze them softly, they just do not like it. Before long, they will stop their habit of jumping on people due to this association.

Training Sessions

Your daily schedule should consist of regular potty breaks, regular training sessions and an hour of good exercise. When your dog gets enough exercise, training sessions are usually more effective and produce faster results. Your dog will be happier and more responsive when he gets the exercise he needs.

“No” shouldn’t be a huge part of training. Find positive and supportive ways to train your furry friend. Saying the word “no” will not aid in the training of your dog. Tailor dog training to suit the dog and the situation.

You have to be firm during dog training. You should not be yelling at your dog all the time. Be strict only when your dog disobeys or adopts an attitude you do not approve of. Doing so improves the relationship between you two.

It’s important to know if your breed of dog will require special grooming. Weekly or monthly grooming may be necessary for breeds with longer hair; other breeds may be satisfied with a bath only occasionally. A groomed dog is happier, cleaner, and healthier.

One tip to keep in mind when training your dog is that everything you do with your dog is molding its personality and behavior. If you send your dog the wrong message with teasing or roughhousing, he may have problems interpreting your actions and acting accordingly. Always work towards desired behaviors to mold them properly.

Don’t ever reward destructive or bad behavior. The dog will only learn that it is the boss. Do not ever reward bad beahvior.

There really isn’t room for error when teaching your dog right from wrong. This means to set firm rules for everyone to follow regarding your pet. This can undo any progress you have made.

It can be challenging to keep an untrained dog inside the house. Things are being destroyed, and your patience is wearing thin. Use what you have learned here to work with your dog for a positive outcome.

A beginners guide to dog training

August 9, 2013 By

Training your dog is important for an obedient relationship between you and your canine friend. Dog training can be a challenging task, and the more you learn about it, the more control you will feel. You should read this article and keep these hints and tips in mind.

Ensure that your dog gets plenty of exercise and stimulation. Just like humans, dogs can become bored easily. Not to mention that a bored dog is going to be more stubborn during training. If you have a happy, exercised dog, they will listen better. A long walk or a brisk run are great ways to get rid of some of your dog’s excess energy.

You must repeat all new commands. You may need to repeat the command more than 20 or 30 times. Just remember to keep trying and be patient. Eventually, your dog will learn.

As the dog gets better at training, you can let it have more freedom. This balance between obedience and freedom will provide your dog with a very satisfying life. Just make sure your dog is properly trained before giving him so much slack.

You should always say commands in the same tone and volume. This lets the dog know you are serious. It also helps the dog to understand the difference between a sharp tone for discipline and a sharp but non-punishing command.

Remember it is important to be patient when you are training your dog. This will keep you and your pupy from becoming frustrated or angry. Don’t forget that dogs aim to please, however they often don’t understand what you want.

During your training sessions, you should keep a close eye on the time. It is possible that your dog will lose interest if it is made to do the same thing over and over. Try to keep the initial sessions limited to about 10 minutes.

It is important for you to teach your dog good behavior habits from the beginning. It makes it easier for the dog to learn the correct behavior first, than it is trying to make them unlearn old bad habits. To avoid a dog that begs for table scraps, never give it table food to begin with.

Praise is key to reinforcing good behavior during training. Give treats, smile, and get excited so your dog will associate good behavior with a positive result. Do not reward bad behavior; instead correct unwanted behaviors and praise when your dog responds correctly.

Always avoid offering your pet a reward for bad behavior in the hopes of snuffing out an undesirable action or tendency. This method will only result in the dog learning to do what it pleases. For instance, avoid giving treats to calm a barking dog.

When taking your dog on a trip, be sure to have collar and leash, food and water, your dog’s bed and plenty of plastic bags to clean up after your dog. You need to bring bowls, his leash and bathroom supplies to ensure you can travel comfortably. Don’t hesitate on taking a handful of your dog’s favorite food with you. This is much easier than buying at your destination.

Dogs have to listen to their owners. The article above outlined some great tips for you to use in your dog training techniques. You need to have patience, but the outcome will be good over time. To ensure that you gain proper obedience from your dog, increase your knowledge and you will find success.
