Make your dog training easier with these tips

September 8, 2013 By

Dogs bring love and joy into our homes. Bringing home a dog could mean lots of work. You will have to do lots of training. The article below contains tips you can use to help you train your dog.

Crate train your puppy in small steps, so that the training is most effective. Once your dog is accustomed to being in the crate, try closing the door and giving your pet a treat through the wire. Keep them in the crate for a small duration and slowly increase that duration. If your pet seems upset or agitated, you may need to slow down.

When you are house training your puppy, remember, what goes in, must come out. In an effort to create regularity in your puppy, feed specific meals at specific times daily. This will help you figure out when the best time is to take your dog out and avoid accidents.

You need to be use rewards and positive reinforcers when you are training your pet. Reward your pet using petting, small treats and positive vocal cues. Do not yell at your dog or hit him. This never works, and your dog will sense that you are cluelss. Stick to the plan and maintain a positive attitude for great results.

Firm, direct commands are the best approach to take when training your dog. But do not yell at your dog constantly: try finding the right balance between being strict when your dog misbehaves and being a loving master the rest of the time. This way, you can have a great relationship with the dog.

You can keep a dog from barking by teaching it an order that means they should be silent. As the dog begins barking, display a treat and then repeat your order until the barking ceases. Only give them the treat when they obey the command. Eventually they will stop barking altogether as a result of the positive association.

If you desire to leash train your dog, the first thing that you must do is to use a collar on him while you’re playing with him. When he is comfortable in the collar, he’ll be ready to learn how to walk on a leash, too.

Be aware of special grooming requirements your dog might need. Some breeds of dogs need little or no grooming, whereas other breeds need meticulous grooming weekly. Properly grooming your dog is important to keep them content and healthy.

Expect the occasional setback when you are training your dog, but don’t give up! Unless you constantly enforce desirable behaviors, the training is unlikely to be effective. Training your dog should be as consistent as feeding or taking him or her outside.

If you travel with your dogs, pack your dog’s needs for sleep, toileting and sleeping. Bring food and water bowls, waste baggies and treats for a good trip. You can buy dog food when you get there, of course, which is a lot easier than bringing it with you.

Make training fun for you and your dog. Keep training to a short 10-15 minute session; much longer and your dog’s attention will wander. Give your dog rewards that vary and come often. Make sure you shower your dog with abundant praise when he does well. When training is fun, he will pay attention and listen to what you say.

You can now use the tips you read in this article to start training your new pet. Patience is key in training, along with showing your dog that he’s doing something right. It will take a lot of work, but eventually all of your hard work will pay off.

Training a dog to listen to commands can be easy

September 7, 2013 By

Many negative behaviors and habits can be removed from a dog. If you have not trained these traits out of your dog, use these tips to correct this behavior. A dog can be turned into the ideal pet with the right training.

Make certain you’re consistent when you are crate training your young puppy. Whenever you let your puppy out of the crate, he must be given the immediate chance to go potty. Over time, the puppy will be able to wait until the appropriate opportunity to answer the call of nature.

When you start dog training, come up with a verbal cue that will tell your pet they’ve followed your command. “yes” is a great bridge word between the dogs positive accomplishment and the reward they receive.

When training dogs, use a similar tone and volume when you give commands. Your tone will indicate that you’re serious and to be respected. They will also know when you are being positive.

Always be ready with dog treats. Your dog should realize why you are happy with him. This is how they’ll know what to do and what not to do.

If your pet is prone to jumping onto your lap, you should gently squeeze his paws after he does so. This communicates that the behavior is unacceptable and should be avoided. This won’t hurt your dog, but it will give them an uncomfortable feeling that will help teach them not to do it again. They should learn to stop jumping because they don’t like the reaction they get.

Training Sessions

Do not have overly long training sessions. Dogs have a short attention span, and keeping the training sessions short and sweet prevents them from becoming a boring chore your dog dreads. You can choose to adopt a more intensive regimen, but only if you are willing to allow your dog a few moments of relaxation and play to break up the session.

Make sure that your dog will not need to engage in any type of response when you deny him. Find positive and supportive ways to train your furry friend. When you say ‘no’, your dog isn’t understanding how it should respond to you. Not only is each situation different, every breed of dog is also different. Therefore, you should adjust your training based off your dog’s breed and the specific situation at hand.

In order to decrease barking, stay around the offending item. Whether your dog barks in response to other dogs, people, certain sounds or something else, it is important to habituate him to this circumstance. Eventually, your dog should see that barking is not necessary in this situation.

Continue training your dog using the same techniques over time. If you have a large family ensure everyone is involved with the dog training. It will be easier for a pet to learn a single set of commands.

Use your dog’s name as many times as you can, this will keep his attention on you. When you first get a dog it is important to say his name often, so that he will associate it to himself and will be more apt to pay attention to you when you call it. For best results, the dog’s name should be short and not sound like any other word in the English language.

Dog training shouldn’t be a battle, and dog owners are now learning that. The correct focus and determination will enable any dog owner to achieve wonderful things in the training of their pooch. A good training regimen will bring out the best in any dog.

Trouble with your dog? Try simple training techniques!

September 7, 2013 By

Are you contemplating of getting a pet and you do not know how to begin on how to train it? Do you currently own a dog and have been desperately trying to eliminate negative behaviors? You need to go over this article. Keep reading on how to make sure your dog really becomes man’s best friend.

When you’re working on training you dog, you must always try to teach it how to know that it’s their home. Meal times should be given within the crate while the door remains open throughout the meal. They’ll build a positive view of the crate this way.

Multiple repetitions will be necessary for a dog to learn new commands. You may need to repeat the same command lesson from 25 to 30 times before your dog learns it. Try using the command more often and be very patient if you want your dog to learn.

Right at the moment they do the behavior you are trying to reinforce, give the verbal command of approval. Certain words like “yes” are great for bridging the time between obeying an order and receiving the reward.

One of the very first commands you should teach a new puppy is the “leave it” command, which tells them to drop an item and step back from it. This simple command is beneficial in making him stop on chewing furniture inside the house.

When training your dog, keep track of time during each session. It is possible that your dog will lose interest if it is made to do the same thing over and over. Early on, your training sessions should be limited to less than 10 minutes.

Make sure that both you and your dog enjoy the daily training. It builds a strong bond between the two of you and encourages them to want to please you. Although dog training can be fun, you don’t really want to spend all your time in training mode.

Aggressive Dogs

A good dog training tip is to always be aware of other dogs when you’re taking your dog for a walk. There are aggressive dogs, and not every owner is at fault. Keep your dog at a distance from angry or aggressive dogs.

To keep your dog from biting at furniture or people, or scratching at doors, spray him or her with a bottle of water. This method shows your dog that what they are doing is wrong. Your dog will instead focus on good behaviors with more positive outcomes.

Never reward bad behavior with the intent of quickly ending a certain behavior. This will give your dog the wrong mindset during the training session. For example, you should avoid offering a treat to the animal to stop it from barking.

Training should be disciplined but also fun for the dog. Training sessions should be kept to 10-15 minutes maximum so your dog enjoys the full benefits of his attention span. Give your dog rewards that vary and come often. Give your dog plenty of praise and this will make him happy. If you make training fun, he will enjoy listening, too.

Don’t wait any longer, get started on training your dog! Implement these tips right away to teach your dog obedience. Dogs want to please their owners. They just need your firm hand to point out the right things to do. Get started right away.

Is your dog a trouble maker? Read on for some great tips!

September 7, 2013 By

Did you get a dog and are not sure how to train it? Does your dog exhibit certain behaviors you do not like? You have come to the right place! Read on to find simple, easy tips for training a dog to truly be man’s best friend.

Training Sessions

Your training sessions must be long enough for your dog to learn the desired behavior but no so long that he becomes bored. Begin with shorter training sessions and gradually increase the time each day. Pay attention to the point when your dog starts to get restless.

Buy chew toys so that your puppy can deal with painful teething. Immediately replace it with one of his designated chew toys. A wet frozen washcloth is great for a puppy, who has teething pain, to chew on.

Modify and update your dog’s training as necessary, so he remains in compliance with the rules. A lot of owners will train their dogs once and not conduct any refreshers. However, pets are creatures of habit. For this reason, it is essential to make sure that your dog adheres to a clear-cut set of rules.

Pick a recognizable phrase to verbalize to your puppy during house training. When you take your puppy outside, say “go potty” to them so they will eventually associate the phrase with going to the bathroom outside.

As your dog gets better with training, you can start to give him or her more freedom. It is important that you reach a balance between freedom and obedience in order to establish a satisfying relationship. Just be cautious not to give too much freedom at once, as this may have a counter effect on your dog training.

The first thing you should do when training a puppy is teach him to understand his name. Use his name as often as possible, and help him learn to come when you call him by it. These are the preliminary words that your dog need to know. Be around your puppy a lot, so he knows to trust you. Over time, the puppy will be able to learn more advanced training.

Continue training your dog throughout its life to make sure that its good behavior persists. Training should not stop because he is not a puppy anymore. When you work with your dog consistently to produce the best behaviors, you help your dog to remain healthy and happy. Discipline will keep him in line.

Continue training your dog using the same techniques over time. When you have a whole family in the house, they should all use the same training techniques. It will be easier for a pet to learn a single set of commands.

The best way to train your dog is to use different tones of voices. Use different tones for orders, praises, warnings and reprimands so your dog can easily distinguish your different reactions. Stay firm and loud when you are trying to get your dogs attention, so that they become familiar with your authority.

Now that you realize training a dog doesn’t have to be a harrowing experience, you are ready to get started. Use these tips as soon as possible to teach your dog how to behave. Dogs love to follow your commands when they understand what you want. All they need is firm guidance to show them how to do it. Try it now!
