There is no reason for a dog not to be trained

August 24, 2013 By

There are a number of reasons for having a pet dog. Maybe you found him irresistible as a puppy or just fell in love with his eyes. Regardless of your situation, you need to teach your dog how to be obedient. In order to accomplish this, you must train your dog. This article has tips to get that training!

Chew Toys

Give them chew toys for pain relief while teething, and keep everything else out of reach. The right chew toys should be given to the pup immediately. If your puppy is in a lot of pain due to teething, a frozen wet washcloth is ideal for him to chew on.

Do not tie up your dogs too closely. The dogs could get wrapped up and they may be injured. In the case that a large dog and small dog become entangled, the large dog’s rope or chain could cut off air circulation to the small dog, and it could be severely injured or die.

Stay with the training, so that he doesn’t forget the lessons that he learned. Keep him in practice. Too many owners tend to be under the impression that once they have trained their dog, that’s the end of it. However, pets are ruled by habits, structure and routine in much that same way that humans are. This is why you must make sure that you have a rule system that is strict for your dog.

Keep your tone of voice consistent when training dogs. Your dog will learn to recognize your tone and know they should obey. The dog will also know the difference when you give them discipline as opposed to a command.

Set small, easy goals when you start training your dog. Not only will you achieve gratification due to your success, but your dog will know what acceptable behavior is. Your training will become more productive.

When your dog does something unacceptable, make sure that it becomes known. It is uncomfortable to them when you squeeze gently, and they learn not to repeat the behavior. This will help them to stop this action immediately.

Your dog does not need to respond to you saying “no”. You need to look for positive ways to reinforce your commands when you train your dog. When you tell your dog “no” during training, he has no idea what you want him to do instead of the behavior you reprimand. Every situation and dog is different and their training should be tailored accordingly.

Always make use of positive reinforcement when it comes to training your dog. You can use treats, toys, positive speech and even belly rubs. Don’t shout at a dog or hit them. These forms of punishment are ineffective. If you want good results, you must be positive, consistent and firm as you train your dog.

So, now are you ready to get to work? Hopefully, you’ve gotten enough ideas here to get started. It is a joy to earn a well-trained pet. But they require time and effort. However, it will all pay off when you see the dog’s big, loving eyes that are ready to do whatever you ask. Choose those tips that work best with your unique dog and circumstances.
